A great time had by all, and wonderful progress made on all workshop objectives!

In addition to a superlative dining experience, Banditos Brugleritos experienced a number of the finer places the southern Adirondacks has to offer.

Normally raging, the falls were reduced to a trickle since there has been no rain in weeks.

But a really lovely little trickle.

Yards Brewing Company Trip Report

Went to Philly

Arrived with the Brew Babes at the location of Yards Brewing Company shortly after noon.  The place smelled like a brewery.  

 Inside, we took in the nearly spartan decor.  

 Attractive varietal banners hung from the rafters high above the bar.  A glass partition separates the U-shaped bar and tables from the massive tanks that fuel the kegs and taps.  

 We sampled two flights of brews, ranging from the pedestrian but satisfying Brawler, through some over-the-top hops IPAs and an odd Ben Franklin recipe concoction without hops or barley, to the chewy Love Stout.  


Then the bartender brought out samples of the remaining beers not included in the flights.  One was a very nice Belgian Saison, a second was forgettable, and the third was a truly delightful and unique Bourbon Porter that entered as an effervescent porter and finished with an indication of fine bourbon.

Unusual artifacts of unknown significance look down upon us from a second story platform.

Our bartender served an additional Saison pint.

It was determined that a case was called for, but alas, the Bourbon Porter was not bottled, along with two other of our selections.  We left with a 6 after I finished my additional Saison pint, selected due to the fact I was wary of the high alcohol content of the Porter.

Limiting the alcohol was a good idea, but not good enough.  I suffered in the oppressive heat after topping off the beer with a Train Wreck Po' Boy from Beck's Cajun Cafe in the Reading Terminal Food Mall.  The Brew Babes navigated home while I slept in the back seat.

Trip Report From The Skip

 Oh yeah, checked out downtown MacGs on Sat PM with volunteer 2 & 3.
Chris came up & met us at the door.
"Wondered when you would get over here." was the welcome.
Gail sailed up to us moments later with a big hug.
Were we going to the concert downtown that nite?
Sadly, no, but she bought us a round anyway.
A real nice welcome!

As you might expect the place looked just like the Anchor bar, but with TVs everywhere.
The hole in the Men's room wall was missing.
65 taps I believe.

Meeting Minutes 22-June-12

Present - Skip, RtE, RtY, Dr. Dave, Mr. Tim


Location - Rohrbachs, Buffalo Road


Meeting came to order at 11:30 AM.  Dr. Dave decided that RtE should try the Hefeweizen.  RtE was not fond of the manner in which it was served.


Major discussion centered on the need for planning in regard to the upcoming HOPS workshop, July 13-15.  Some thoughts:


 -  Storyboard for a new "Learn to Curl" video.


 -  T-Shirt design for ALE/HOPS.  RtE suggests that the WCTU be worked into the design somewhere.  Mr. Tim indicated that LAGER be worked in somewhere.  The membership looks to him for an explanation of the acronym.


 -  Generate a to-do list for non-attendees.


Meeting adjourned at 1:30 PM.  MG Midgets were discussed in the parking lot.  RtE's first automobile was an MG TD, which he put together.  RtY was never that ambitious.

Minutes 1-June-2012

MINUTES OF THE MEETING:

Meeting convened with a quorum @ 11:45 AM in the usual place.  Present: Skip, RtE, RtY, Dr. Dave, Mr. John Orchard   Absent: Andrew (Virtual Member).


As usual, brilliantly insightful commentary ensued, resulting in the following:

DEFINITIONS

- Youth-phemism - what old people tell young people to protect them from the truth.
- Drink Ale to cure your ailments.  
- Mo' Brilliant - Designated A.L.E. vocalist...likely of minority heritage.
- When something is re-choired, it means you must sing again.

- Dr. Dave pours...rain or shine at the Gregory St. Rochester Real Beer Expo.  June 16

- Dr. Dave recommends YARD brewery in Philly on Delaware St.

HISTORY TO REMEMBER

- RtE expanded our knowledge by assigning the A.L.E. auxiliary the moniker of "Wine Connoisseur Tasting Union."  This group is in no way related to the Women's Christian Temperance Union.

With Carry Nation at the head,
is it any wonder that the temperance movement failed?

- Devise study to determine optimal employee hand size and reach.  Determine if extra compensation is merited for employees possessing said characteristics.  Include effects of ethnicity and correlation with Stanford-Binet test results. - John
